The generator on my 29 is acting up (read: not charging well) and I was wondering before I have it rebuilt what the pros and cons of switching to an alternator are. Thanks! -dave

Switching to a six volt alternator will require a different fan belt and different mounting brackets as well. I would recommend getting your generator rebuilt correctly instead. Once done, your generator and cutout should last almost a lifetime! By the way, the correct generator for your '29 is a Delco-Remy model 943-J.

agree with the JYD. stick with the delco generator and have it rebuilt. finding an alternator pulley that will jive with your 29 pulleys(H2O pump and harm. balancer) will be a tough row to hoe. Send the old generator to the JYD--he'll get it going right. mike

Send the generator and cutout as a unit that way JYD can set it all correctly and you only need to bolt it back on. Tony
