I wonder If anyone has had a coil rebuilt, Or knows of anyone who does or may be able to rebuild old six volt coils with the newer coil inside parts. We had a guy In the seattle area who rebuilt coils for the packard cars, but has passed away and no one hear knows how he rebuilt them. Thanks :) :) chevy chevy :) :)

I'm using a guy in Massachussets , the name of the company is J L Sullivan. I have the number at work and can get it for you. I am having a 1934 Cadillac V12 coil rebuilt by him. This is the first time that I'm using him so we will see how this comes out.

I would like to know the cost? It might be the same guy that I know about and it was $400 the last time I talked to him at Hershey. Way out of line. :(

Hey Charles, That phone number sounds good If you can post It. The price sounds very reasonable, Especially If he Is doing a 12 volt coil, For that price. The guy up here In the northwest use to charge about 250 dollars to do the Packard coils, But he passed away and that ended It for everyone In my area who had him do their coils. :) chevy chevy :)

If you are trying to use 6volt coils on 12v system there is a cheap way but probably wont pass judging.
If you put 2 of the later kettering system ballast resistors in a line between switch and coil you will stilll be able to use original coil. ! resistor wont be enough as they only drop about 3 volts each but 2 should be fine.

1938 1/2 ton Hope to drive it before I retire
