Installed grille, rad etc on my '32 car. The fan is quite close to the rad. It's an original honeycomb so I really don't want it damaged! Just wondering what is normal clearance between fan and rad core. I think I have about 3/4".

The closer the fan is to the radiator core the better the low speed heat transfer. 3/4" is okay as long as the fan does not wobble.

Chipper, While that may be true, I think poster was asking is whether that distance/gap (from the radiator to the fan) on a 32 is normal, wobbly or not. I sure don't know. The answer is above my pay grade. I'd bet that Chip knows. Best, Charlie

Sounds about right as it barely leaves enough room to get the belt on.

Thanks everyone. No fan wobble. So I guess it should be OK.
