I’m ready to wire the heater and defrost switches on my ”˜41 special deluxe. I’m assuming that the wire coming from each fan wires to one of the terminals on the switch, and the other to a ground?
Thanks for the help!

The heater and defroster (and other eletrical accessories) are gronded to where ever they mount. That is why it is import, to have some bare metal (unpaintd) on the mounting surface.

The second wire comes from a source like ignition switch or somewhere else

Bob, it sounds like you're not sure about what wire goes where. I don't know how this relates to the '41 but on my '38 the switch has a hot coming to the switch on one terminal then another wire from the second terminal to the heater. On my '38 the heater and defroster are controlled by separate switches. If your switch has three terminals to control both devices, one is likely the hot feed wire and the other two the feed (hot) wires going to your heater and defroster. None of them are likely ground because the switch merely sends the power to the device. The device is grounded to the body. If you have a multi-meter it's easy to figure out how the switch works.

If the switches are the original paddle type, you should be able to find the letters “bat” molded into the case adjacent to one of the terminals.

That makes a lot of sense. Now I get it. Thank you for your help and sharing your knowledge. Bob
