So working under my 1/2 ton pick up yesterday and noticed some faint paint stamped looks like letters and numbers possibly. They were on the outer part of the frame on the drivers side just under the door area. Thought I read something about this a time ago but don’t remember, was this a factory thing?

The companies that made frames for Chevrolet often stenciled plant and date on the side rail. The most common was the A.O. Smith Company here in Milwaukee.

This is not relevant to your 1/2 ton but My 1936 1-1/2 ton has a warning stenciled inside the passenger side frame rail. I don't remember the exact wording but it has to do with drilling and cutting the frame.

Interesting to know but more interesting that it has remained all these years!
