The engine serial number is located on a machined pad on the engine block directly behind the fuel pump. Also, with the push rod cover removed, a duplicate serial number is stamped on the flange near the front of the block under where the push rod cover would be when it is installed.

The car serial number is located on a plate that is attached to the passenger side wood main sill, under the floor mat, in front of the front seat facing the passenger side door. However, since this plate was originally attached to the wood sill with small nails, it is probably missing.

The transmission serial number is stamped on a machined surface on top near the shifter, the rear end serial number is on a pad on the housing near where the torque tube rivets.

What about the cowl tag and its' information?

Good question. As I understand it, the cowl tag identifies the characteristics of the vehicle when it was new. "Paint Number" described the paint scheme from the factory; "Vehicle Number" described the body type; etc.
I haven't seen the tag on the vehicle in question but my brother who is looking at it for me mentioned it. I believe he said there were three items but I can't recall the third one.
If I'm wrong on this, I'd appreciate it if someone would set me straight.
