The transmission serial number is stamped on a machined surface on top near the shifter, the rear end serial number is on a pad on the housing near where the torque tube rivets.

Good question. As I understand it, the cowl tag identifies the characteristics of the vehicle when it was new. "Paint Number" described the paint scheme from the factory; "Vehicle Number" described the body type; etc. I haven't seen the tag on the vehicle in question but my brother who is looking at it for me mentioned it. I believe he said there were three items but I can't recall the third one. If I'm wrong on this, I'd appreciate it if someone would set me straight.

For 1932, the Fisher Body cowl tag had the following information: Job Number Body Number Trim Number Paint Number
