Chevgene, The number stamped in my block behind the distributor F517B Does that tell whether the engine has hydraulic or solid lifters? Thanks...Richard

If its a 1958 engine -
F made in Flint
517-on May 17th
B-235 Power Glide car

It would have had hyd. lifters when it left the factory.To install solids the cam would have to have been changed later.
