Walking through a local pull and pay I noticed a 61? Corvair with factory a/c,I had never seen one before and the car is complete except for front seats. Grade A Auto parts West Third street Dayton Ohio and can get phone number if anyone interested but someone out there probably could use these parts.

Jeff, if indeed it was a '61 is is very unusual to find with factory AC. Not many were equipped with it and indeed the AC parts are very different then say 62-64. The compressor was a bright green in color and was the same one used on full size cars, and the under dash unit parts are also very different. Wish you had a photo. It was either 60 or 61 since it had a generator and yes it looked like the same compressor that was on the full size cars. I was suprised to see it and the first I seen with factory a/c

The Corvair A/C compressor is reverse rotation, only good on a Corvair.

No AC offered on 1960 Corvairs. Engine very different from '61-64,no room for application. Ed Bittman VCCA#47508 Dade City,Fl

Could that be the reason for the green paint on compressor?

I do not remember it being all green but I think it had a green stripe painted around it.

Green was to identify reverse rotation. It could have been all green or just green stripe. I have a Corvair buddy that has been looking for all the components to install in his '61. I will forward your info to him, thanks. Ed Bittman VCCA#47508 Dade City,Fl

Ed,

If you can use them I have some 12 ounce cans of R12 refrigerant and also a couple of 30 pound R12 cylinders.
