All:

I do not like to throw a vendors name out to forums unless they've really done me wrong. On March 3rd 2017 I ordered what was described as a fully restored 1940 Chevrolet Master Deluxe dash clock. The item was listed at 250 at the following link:

https://www.smithsclassiccarclocks....-Chevy-Master-85-Specia-p/cl-c-1940w.htm

I contacted the store owner and asked if he would take my dash clock as a core as it was non-working and in excellent shape. The owner agreed and said he'd give me 50 bucks for the core. I paid him the 200 plus 11 for shipping and then sent him my core two weeks later. This is where the nightmare begins.

As of today May 31st I have no clock and I'm still out 261 dollars. I have had nothing but empty promises from this guy that "my clock is in route" and "sorry for the delay its coming". I attempted to file a dispute through PayPal but I failed to escalate it higher when the owner said that it was "in route to my house". I still do not have a clock. I'm about to file a fraud case with VISA since I still have neither my clock or my money. I'm hoping that I'll get this resolved soon as its been 3 months with absolutely nothing. Take my warning fellas...stay clear of this vendor!!

I've never received any tracking information. Just promises that the clock would be shipped.

Good luck with VISA. There are strict time limits for filing a dispute. It was 60 days the last time I did it. If it's been 90 days you'll likely have to file a complaint with that state's consumer protection office.

My VISA is through Navy Federal. They typically replace the funds within 10 business days and then request evidence for the dispute. I have a very long email history with this individual where I was consistently told that I would receive my clock...and yet I've received nothing. If anyone has a good lead on a 1940 dash clock please let me know. I see several on Ebay however I'm wary of their condition.

I found this posted on his business web page:
Quote
I opened this business in 2012 to fill a gap during the slow of work in my profession of architecture. It has been very lucrative and it has been a joy to restore the old clocks from classic cars, many unique beautiful design expressions in their own right. It has also been great working with the owners who I have found to be gracious and tolerant. I realize the need to move on and I am looking for an individual to buy the business and its 600+ clock inventory. I am willing to train that individual and teach them everything I know about how to make money restoring clocks. This would be an ideal business as a part time venture for a retired or semi-retired person with a passion for classic cars. The new owner should expect to make between 40k-50k part time and that is certainly not the ceiling. Please contact me if you have an interest! Jim

I ended up getting my money back from VISA but I never received my core back. Its a shame as I was really hoping to get my clock. Its really hard to find a replacement too as most individuals have broken clocks that they want over 200 dollars for.

That is bad news about your core clock.

At the moment, some nice functioning 1940 wind-up dash clocks are listed on eBay. Some are asking "best offer".
