IN 1948 there wee more than a dozen diffeent oil filters sold for installation on Chevrolet engines. Remove the old filter and look for ID numbers or brand name.

Then go to a NAPA store as NAPA filters are WIX and follow WIX numbers.

It will be a 1006 at Napa. Their first run filters are Wix. Same filter at Carquest or Big A. If they're still around...Joe
