Does anyone know what the limits are for a 1933 Master clutch driven disc (friction disc). Mine is .07" away from the rivets. Thanks, Dennis

The normal replacement of the Disc material is when the clutch begins to slip under hard acceleration. The question is what is the distance of new. The life of the remaining material depends on how the car is driven or planned on being driven.

The disc facing thickness is listed at from .122" to .128" I have no figures on the rivet depth but I would guess about .015" at least.

I just checked the spare clutch plate I have had since I got my 1933 Chevrolet in 1971.
The one side of each rivet is deep that presses against the metal plate sandwiched between the two friction surfaces. The other side of each rivet that holds the friction material to the metal is shallow and they alternate back and forth between each side so here is how I measured the depth.
First I put a thick feeler gauge over the friction material and measure the total thickness of the plate and feeler with a micrometer, then I moved the micrometer over the rivet and measured from the feeler on one side to the top of the shallow rivet on the other. Subtracted the two numbers and came up with .050"
As a check when I put a .020" and .030" feelers together and look at the thickness it appears to be approximately the same as the rivet head depth also.
Rivet head depth is .050" on the new clutch plate.

Just a note that all brands of discs may not be the same. Also Chevrolet sorced their discs from various sorces.

Thanks everyone. I just went out and measured mine and it is .122 to .130 depending on where I take the measurement. Awesome. Dennis
