What is the correct Stewart Warner vacuum tank for my 1927 Chevrolet Coupe? I thought that I had previously saw on the Chat that a "8-screw" top tank was the one to use. Now I have seen photos of several '27's that have the "4-screw" top tank.

That is a good question. The vast majority of '27 Chevys that I have seen have the 8 screw Stewart vacuum tank. '28s have the 4 screw. Pat McGowen has told me that '28 Chevys on the West Coast have the 8 screw tank. The '27 Master Parts List (July, 1927) lists both the 8 screw and 4 screw parts.

Let the discussion continue.

I would suggest you use the 4 screw version, less problems, less moving parts, easier to work on.

Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great"

I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/

Thank you for your responses. I have an 8-screw assembled and bench tested so I am going to use it on my '27.

My '28 parts book lists the Stewart type 215G on AA closed bodies and type 493 on AA & LM bodies.
