If you are refering to the Chevrolet name on the lower grille bar they were blue.

Chevrolet was using lucite parking light lenses at that time. The later replacement 1941 and 1942 lenses was changed to lucite in the later years. 1949 and 1950 (not the same) were glass.
The 1941- early 1948 had glass tail light lenses. The late 1948 had Lucite and they are much brighter.
Trucks also changed to Lucite in 1948 for the pick-ups..

I bought my '46 Fleetmaster in 1973 from the second owner and all appeared to be original. It had and still has glass parking light lenses. I can't remember the color of the lettering on the Chevrolet emblem on the grill but the NOS one I bought in around 1978 had/has red lettering, not blue. Perhaps replacements were red, I don't know, but it came in the original GM box.

Interesting. Both the 1946 color catalog and the 1946 facts book says blue.

And, the spec. sheet at the old car manual site confirms what Gene said, blue and plastic.

I guess that just goes to show that spec sheets can be wrong. Perhaps there was an undocumented production change from glass to plastic and some cars made it out of the factory with glass lenses.

Next week I wll be seeing a 1946 expert. Will see what he has to say.

A NOS 1946 parking light I have has a Lucite lens.

In the case of lenses the later replacments may have changed to Lucite.

THe Lucite lenses were made by Guide Division of GM and the glass by Duray I be;ieve.

Below is just a small sample of the glass '46-8 lenses available on eBay. The bottom one states it's an NOS glass lens in the original Guide box. There are many more that look like glass but the description did not state glass or Lucite. I'll have to check when I get home but I think the lenses in my '48 Cabriolet are glass too.

Just a note, '42 was a one year only left and right different. In the '48 parts book their is a note, Lucite lens for 1942 not available. '46, one year only, fits left or right, will have 5936030 molded on it. '47/'48 same, left 5936809 and right 5936810 molded on them.

Originally the 1942 came with Lucite.. After a few years the Lucite was replaced by glass and it was necessary to buy the correct door (rim) to make it fit.

Remember that 1946 is a totally different lense size compared to 1947/48, they look the same but DO NOT interchange.
