Are the backs of the bumper guards painted black similar to the bumpers?

Bumpers are not black on the back side. They are not polished like the front side before they at chromed. Chrome shops want to polish everything which in incorrect. The end result is a polished chrome face bar & a dull silver color on the edges & the back side. I suspect the guards were the same way...Joe

I PURCHASED A PAIR OF NOS STOCK BUMPER GUARDS COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND THEY ARE EXACTLY LIKE JOE SAYS.

The back side of bumper guards was sprayed with aluminum paint.

I have had new guards for all years and all have had the aluminum paint spray. (from 1934 and up).
