On my 1950 Belair door, there is a rod that goes from the vent window area to the bottom corner diagonally. I can feel a nut on the end of it but cannot get a wrench on it to remove it. What is this rod for? How do I remove it so I can clean it up and replace it? Is it a turn buckle to keep the door from sagging? Help.

So how do you get to the nut to tighten or loosen it? Any idea of what size nut is on the end? I cannot see it only feel it - barely.

Well, I just learned something new. I looked at one of my old doors stored up in the attic of the garage. I turned one over and there was the answer - a rubber grommet. I removed the grommet and there is the end of the rod. UNFORTUNATELY, the body guy filled these holes when he repaired the doors. I will have to drill a new hole so I can have access to the end of the rod. Thanks Andy, you came through again.
