Does anyone have the part # or casting number for a 1936 Chevrolet truck steering gear? I am attempting to see if it is the same as the GMC 1/2 ton, which I think it is.
Thanks,

260364....fits everything from 1931-1936 except Master cars so can be missleading.

I have one out and on the floor. I'll see if I can find a casting number for you.

The GMC part number is the same, 260364, although the Hollendar Interchange lists it as part number 260367? Now, which would be the preferable way to go, rebuild my steering gear or find another one and get it rebuild?
Thanks for everyone's help.

I rebuilt mine with NOS worm shaft and sector shaft. (GM parts) I installed new bearings and bushings. I have not been able to adjust it to drive like I think it should. The adjustment instructions are sketchy and the method for adjusting is even worse.
If you have good luck with your rebuild, let me know how you did it.

I finally remembered to clean off a spot on the '36 truck column. The casting number is 260367. Sorry to take so long.
