I ran a compression test on my 1957 235 engine today, number 4 cylinder shows 0 compression. What might be the problem and how to check? It is pushing air out of the exhaust.

I would start with removing the valve cover and see if you have a valve stuck open, then next back off the valves on that cylinder to make sure they are closed and put air in the cylinder. Air out the exhaust valve bad out the carb valve bad into the crankcase rings or hole in piston. If you can hook up a air compressor to that be careful the engine will turn over some if that piston goes to the bottom of the cylinder.
