I need a suggestion for an adhesive. I need to glue neoprene rubber to sheet metal. Weather strip adhesive is too light weight and does not hold. Can I use seam sealer without it destroying the rubber? What have you used on your car? Thanks

Where are you using it? Will the glue joint be visible when applied? I have used a product by BASF called Masterseal NP1 polyurethane to bond the transmission rubber mounts supplied by NCA to the original steel plates rather than the flimsy plates in their repair kit. It bonds great but is a little tricky to use and does take several days to completely set up. Once it does set completely I think it's as good as vulcanized.

Yes, the 3M Weather Strip Adhesive is great. I used it on my '37 weather strip back in 1980 and it is still holding perfectly.

The key to using the 3M adhesive is to make sure the surfaces are clean of wax, grease, oil, old adhesive first before using. The bond is only as good as the surface it's going on. Clean the metal with alcohol or acetone first and wipe dry. Use sparingly as you can remove paint. Make sure gasket is clean too.
