Chevs of the 40's and the Filling Station both advertise taupe colored rubber floor mats for 1941-48 cars. The front mat even comes with carpet inserts. Was taupe colored rubber the factory color and carpeting part of the mats? I have the Master Deluxe model. Did the Special Deluxe have all carpet mats?

Thanks, Mike

The Master Deluxe had black mats with no carpet insert. Even the trunk mat was black.

Does anyone know of a source for the black mats? I have looked at Chevs of the 40's and the Filling Station and emailed Lebaron Bonney.

Thanks, Mike

Hi Ray and All,

I still have not had any luck locating a set of all black rubber floor mats. I assume I could find material to make my own for the trunk but could not for the interior. The transmission hump seems like it would require a prefabbed (stretched) one that would cover the irregularity. Is everyone just satisfied with the taupe mat with the carpet inserts? It seems like it would look great in my car???

Unfortunatly, I didn't get a response from Ray's lead, and LeBaron Bonney sent me only carpet options.

Thanks, Mike

P.S. Will check today with a local automotive upholstery shop.

The rubber front mats were moulded to fit over the hump, etc.
Other than the high price, a brown front mat with a carpet insert would look right at home in a Master Deluxe.
As long as zi would be doing the above I would install a brown trunk mat also.
The rear floor carpet did not have a pile on the M.D. but looked more like a woven material like a super heavy burlap in a much larger scale.

Check Jim Carter. He has a truck Universal black rubber front mat that may work. I have had a trimmed universal mat in my '40 for 19 years and it's good enough to be in a Senior car. There is very little if any molding to my mat 'cause it lays flat on the garage floor. You get just a smidgen of a wrinkle at the hump upward bend but the wrinkle is not as bad as the one in the 'original' front mat that finally died of old age.

Need to check measurements carefully though before buying.
