I have one of those rare Turrett Antenna's that mounted in front of the center of the windshield that goes all the way across the center of the top. It is still mounted on the display board.Did it have supports that mounted between the top and antenna? It looks like a couple of the support parts are missing. Did the supports glue to the top of the the vehicle? The display board has a tube of glue (dried Up) mounted on the board.It is a Chevrolet item but has no part number on the display board.

One support just above the windshield and one about a foot ahead the the rear tip.
"Supports are installed with a positive fixing cement"

It is from the 1939 accessory information. Actually the 1937-1939 were the same....and it was made for all GM Turret top cars.

Thanks to everyone for the information. The antenna I have looks like the one in the pictures. The front and rear supports are missing. It would be great if I could find those supports to complete the antenna.

I researched the turret top antenna information that I have.
The antenna was first introduced in mid 1937 according to the 1938 Engineering Features. It was available as an accessory and because it was a mid year accessory is not listed in the 1937 accy. manual.
It is shown in the 1938 Accessory catalog and listed for $5.00. The only other 1937 and 1938 antenna was the under running board type.
Also the 1938 radios other than the cheap universal model could be ordered with either style antenna.
The accessory number for the 1937-1938 version for the antenna alone was 985922 and 1939 parts book lists it for 1939 also.
There was one problem with this antenna. Due to its long length and wraping over the back window it could not be used on the short roof of a coupe.
So in 1939 a new version was introduced. Accy # 985462 and was much shorter back only about 2/3's as far which looked better and probably fit on the longer roof of a 1939 coupe. it cost $3.50.
That short version was also available in 1940. Chevrolet claimed that it offered "superior reception"
That made three different antenna styles available in 1939 and 1940. The turret top, cowl whip, and under running board type.
Evidently no seperate replacement parts were made because nothing is listed in the parts book.

I have the shorter 39 type TURRET ANTENNA and mine was missing the short stubby mount just in front of the windshield, parts are tuff to find, but through the old car hobby, i was able to locate and buy the missing mount.
so don`t give up hope! you`ll find the parts you need

Does your radio have a bare wire for an antenna? My 35 has a bare wire only.

Does your radio have a bare wire for an antenna? My 35 has a bare wire only. dont think so, it`s been a couple years since i brought out my radio, but the antenna has a lead on it, so it must plug into the radio somewhere now i have a weekend project: get my radio out to look i will check
