I would like to know what the tire pump looks like for my '36 truck. The only illustration I can find is so small it is not possible to really know what to look for.
Potos would be great.
Thanks.

Mike

Mike,

Since it appears that no one knows, merely pick up any old pump and claim it is a 36 pump. Who's gonna argue with you?

In my copy of the Chevrolet Master Parts List dated Feb. 1, 1941, it states that the same tire pump (part number 358504) was used for all six cylinder models from 1929-1941.

So, you can expand the search for the tire pump.

Cheers, Dean

Just because a part or tool is described as fitting or for use on a number of models or years does not mean it remained the same design. An example would be a jack. The jack may be described as being for a 1929 to 1935 for an example but may have been up-graded say 1933 and still can be used on a 1929 model.Even parts can superceed earlier designs and sold for replacement on previous models.
Example, if you look-up a hub cap for a 1940 in a 1957 parts book it will show the hub cap as fitting a 1940-1948 model. THe 1940 design was discontinued and they sold the later because it fit but look different.
The above being said just find an early tire pump and display it and no one will know the fifference. I am sure Chevrolet obtaind more than on brand and design of tire pump over the years and sold them under the same part number.

Mike, on page three of the December 2009 issue of the G&D, there is a picture of a tyre pump for a 1941. I tried accessing the G&D archives to post a link, but I was unsuccessful.
