Did the V8 and six cylinder use the same flex plate?

I have a 51 coupe with 54 engine converted to 12 volt and I want to use a 12 starter. I have heard that the 55-57 starter will work. I have found a starter but now I need a flexplate. I have read also that a flex plate from 55-62 will work.

I have the engine and trans out and I would like to get the flex plate before I start putting it back together.

Thanks, Pete

My parts book only covers thru 55 but shows different part numbers for a 6 or v-8.
