Hi

I took my head off to have a look inside and see about raising the CR.

I thought it would be worth asking where they crack, so I can have a good inspection while it is off.

thanks

Geraint

Everywhere! The cylinder heads will crack in the flat area of the combustion chamber, they will crack in the valve seats and they will also crack in the radius of the spark plug chamber.

Just curious? I know they are prone to cracking. Is there anything we should do or not do to avoid them cracking? Is it from certain factories? Then there is the joke of being made on Monday, or Friday of the week. In other words, has any correlation been established?
Thanks, Norm

Some heads just crack.

Some heads crack from being overheated.

All heads crack if cold water is added when over heated.

Always allow the engine to cool before adding water.
