I have a short, 1/2 inch long crack or hole in the side of my block, between the carb and generator about 3 inches from the head. I'm considering cleaning and welding it. Any thoughts about this?
If I have to replace the block, may as well rebuild the replacement, and then restore the whole car. That will take years on my budget.

You might be able to seal it with one of the newer specialty epoxies seeing that it is so small.

Other people have used the threaded rod method to "stitch" the crack shut. Since there is no pressure on the water jacket, or the crankcase it should work. There was a tech article on it in the G & D a few years ago. Check it out.
