Good Day Everyone
The factory installed both lower ball joints with two rivets on each side. Corvette Central sells correct ball joints with new rivets. PN572143

Will I need an arbor press to install the new rivets or can I just hammer them in place?

Are the original rivets peened over on the back side?

Bye for now.
Mike

I would put the new ones on with grade 8 bolts.

That's a good question for the vendor that you bought the parts from. Also ask for referrals of customers who have purchased the same parts from them and then contact them to see how they did it.

The replacemet ball joints come with the bolts. The kit the Corvette places sell probably come with rivets so they look original and correct for judging.

This guy installs them with the original type rivets. He did mine and they came out almost just like factory.

Installing a rivet is not an easy task but I was not impressed by the photos posted. I installed an engine rear crossmember in my 32 with rivets and I think they look a lot closer to original than what is posted above.

Steve, I don't know about rivets on a 32, but the rivets on the ball joints shown above are dead on

Well maybe I am looking at it wrong. The top photo shows a round head and the lower a round head with a cupped outer rim. Maybe I am being too critical but they do not look the same to me.

I was a little disappointed too when I got them back. Being a Corvette specialist who did it, I figured they'd be dead nuts on.

They pass NCRS judging so I guess that means they're perfect.
