I purchased a new coil for my 1950 Belair from NAPA - part # IC7. It is approx. 1/8" larger than the original coil and bracket. If you stretch the bracket to fit the coil, the holes do not line up with the holes in the engine. Where did you buy your coil from and did you have any fit problems? Any suggestions?

I have seen brackets with elongated holes. maybe you could elongate yours. It would only be 1/16 on each side.

I did file the holes to make it line up with the engine holes. The problem is the bolt that goes thru the threaded hole to clamp the coil tight is too short. When I used a slightly longer one, the coil is in the way so the bolt does not line up with the threaded hole on the opposite side. The only way a longer bolt would work is if I bent it slightly - but then you can't tighten it up. I am currently looking for a NOS Delco coil and will just return the coil from NAPA when I find it.
