I am planning on trying to start my 1950 this weekend. There is no wiring in this car as of now. After looking at a wiring diagram, I think I am correct in using 16 gauge wire from the coil (neg side) to the distributor. But what gauge should I use from the coil (pos side) to the solenoid? Remember, there is no starter switch. Thanks

If I undersatnd you correctly 8 Ga.
When the wiring harness and all things are installed both wires running to the coil are 16 Ga.

The plan is to hook the positive side of the battery to the solenoid and the negetive side to the engine for a ground just like a normal connection. The only other wires needed, I belive, would be from the coil to the distributor (neg - 16 gauge) and the coil to the solenoid (pos - 8 gauge). Sound right?
