I recieved a good number of replies to the question placed in the G&D. They have been forwarded to the judging comittee for evaulation.

I understood (perhaps incorrectly) that any installed accessories needed to carry a GM part number.
If this wood trim addition is accepted, without a GM part number, I'm thinking the floodgates will open, from owners, with non GM accessories, who believe point deductions should not be levied.
Interesting scenario.

I would say this is not an issue of acceptance, but more about how is it judged? Wrong body panel or just aftermarket accessary...I know it was made "specifically" for the 47 & 48 Chevrolets...GM approved. I would say yes....In the parts book, nope

CC,

The committee may know that you have a Fulton on that car.

I suggest you take it off and try again. Be sure to let them know that the Fulton now rests in tha city's trash site's metal bin and won't be going back on. That may make a huge difference. You understand, don't you, that that the wood tirm is beautiful while the Fulton is downright ugly? Is too! I'll bet the committee does. Yep. Agrin

You're right welcome,

The Country Club Wood Kit for the 47-48 Chevrolets is considered an aftermarket accessory. After extensive research, we have found NO mention in any official original Chevrolet literature that it was ever sold or authorized by Chevrolet.

dave
ps. The Country Club kit is a great looking aftermarket add-on, it just wasn't sold as an official accessory.

Ok Dave, and if that is now all true, how many points should be deducted for a 47 or 48 that has a "aftermarket wood kit" installed when being judged????

CC,

Some things should not trigger a deduction in points. That is because the wood supports the car as a beautiful piece of art.

I think the wood should be one item that does not cause any point deduction. In any case and coming from the art point of view. the point deduction should only be about one tenth of what a Fulton would be. (Note: I had originaly said one ten-thousands but I have decided that would just be silly.) dance

Best,
Charlie computer

Charlie, I Guess the CC Wood Kit has now been deemed an aftermarket accessary by the national judging committee and could receive point deduction???What that would be is the question???There is no guidelines for aftermarket accessories in the judging manual....Now What???I thought maybe Dave would clarify
