Fire extinguisher require recertification on a yearly basis & need to be hydro tested. That test is either every 5 year or every 10 years according to manufacture date on the extinguisher...Joe

Was the date on the tag "expired", when your vehicle was judged ?

OR..... in the eyes of the judge, if there was no tag, then perhaps they considered the extinguisher expired.

Just grasping thoughts here.

Back when I was involved with judging the fire extinguisher only needed to have the pressure gauge needle in the green to be considered okay. I would have to look it up in the Judging Manual but am remembering it must be at least a 5 B:C or larger.

I've got 2 five lb. and 2 10 lb. Kidde extinguishers in the garage and cars. They are all less than 3 years old. None of them have any dates or date tags on them and I never removed any either. Somebody here didn't get the "date tag" memo.

He must have been using your judging sheet on another car.

To be honest, my total points were petty high...It almost appeared an intentional slam at my car because it had done so well

But why would a judge do that?

If I were the judge, heck, I'd be happy that the owner did well.

I just purchased an extinguisher this morning at Lowes in the original box. No Tag, No Date. I will have it in my car this summer.

Maybe the "date" idea is something that doesn't really exist ? ? ?

Is it just me but having a car judged and having lost points is a valuable service. You now know how to improve your car for the next time. As the owner you don't always see the "flaws". I agree sometimes judging might be on the edge but isn't the doubt given to the owner? Corvaired Dade City,Fl

If judging is done properly there should be no deduction if the judge is not sure of the authenticity or condition. If that is what you mean by "doubt given to owner" then you are correct.

That sounds good Dog but it is not used. The last time I had our '31 Judged one of the judges took 4 points off that should not have been taken. The next time I saw that judge I asked him about it. He said he was not sure so he took the deduction. I was standing with the car and he could have asked or I could have asked one of the other judges that knows '31s. It is all a guessing game.
