I was told by an old racer that a Baby Grand Motor has a longer stroke than later 4 cylinder motors.

He showed me an old photo of a Baby Grand Motor with a 3 port Oldsmobile head on it. He went on to say racers preferred the Baby Grand motor for it having more low end torque due to the longer stroke.

So is this an accurate statement? does anyone have any 4 cylinder Chevrolet racing information?

In some respects the long stroke engines are stronger but the longer stroke makes them less tolerent of high revs.
