I have a battery butler that was hooked up for 2 weeks and my battery is nearly dead. I checked the output with a multimeter and it read 3.3 volts dc. Is that correct or should it be at least 6 volts?
Thank you
Michael

Here's a note from Battery Butler.

Provides a safe, regulated minimum current charge (less than 1/2 amp) to your battery to maintain its peak capacity. Once your battery has fully charged, the charger's output current to your battery will stop -
then resume as soon as battery level drops.
On a side note...
We receive many phone calls inquiring about the low amperage of our chargers. Unknowingly, some of these callers assume that more amps is better - and that our chargers, that output less than 1/2 amp, are not as good as those that output 1-1/2 amps or more. Our reply is simple. Why should you dump more amperage into your battery than necessary? The lower the amps and slower the rate of charge, the better and safer it is for your battery!

Maintain voltage for a 6 volt Battery Butler: 6.6 volts to 6.9 volts.

Thank you for the responses.
After reading the Battery Butler website the voltage should be 6.9 vdc at a half amp. Mine is 3.3 vdc so it won't charge my battery, now i need to know what is the best battery tender from your experience? Not sure I want to take a chance with another Battery Butler
Thank you

Before you condemn the Battery Butler, check the connections for condition, especially any corrosion. If all that looks good then contact the company for their suggestion. I am sure they would rather have a happy customer than an ex-owner with a grudge.

I can't compare the Battery Butler to the Battery Tender, but I have a 12 volt and a 6 volt Battery Tender for several years, without any issues.

You probably should have checked the Battery Butler web site first before posting your question since all of the informtion that you needed is on their web site. Anyway, I have had a 6 volt Battery Butler on my car for years and it works great! It keeps my battery fully charged all winter and also when the car is not in use in the summer with no problems.

Resurrecting this old post for a new experience. I have also used Battery Butler both 6 and 12. I got a new one and had a similar experience on less than 6 volts and it wasn't a bad connection. Called them, got an RMA, sent it in and waited and waited. Called them up to check on it and they say I forgot to include proof of purchase, which I no longer have. They will do nothing else for me, hard to imagine but I guess they fear I may have cloned their device for the privilege of getting it replaced with an original??? Anyway, I think I will be changing my loyalties if anyone has any suggestions.
