I purchased a few months ago fender marker lights from Chev's of the 40's for my 1950 Styleline. I installed them, they were fine and lit up properly when the headlights were turned on. Went out to the car today for something and turned on headlight switch.....YES headlights but NO fender markers !!

I have not touched them for months...checked the bulbs, connections are all good . They were fine now all of a sudden this. Any suggestions ? BTW, I used some wiring that was left over from a household ceiling fan initially. It was brown and blended in with the factory wiring. It worked...wonder if this is the problem ?

At this point I am just scratching my head and really confused. Thanks.

You will have to give us more information. Where did you get the power for the marker light? Did you get it from the headlight on the same side and where is the gnd.for each marker light? I would suspect a gnd. problem like corrosion. A voltmeter would help.

I would disconnect the wiring at the switch and power them up bypassing the switch. It's possible the switch contacts just need to be cleaned.

Did you check the fender marker lights with a volt meter to see if you have power to the marker lights?

The wire from each respective fender marker comes through a tiny joint hole in the fender and is wired to one of the 4 headlight/parking light connections by the radiator . I will have to figure out my voltmeter and try that next. It might be some corrosion. When you pull out the headlight switch they are supposed to come on. They were fine last time I used them. Hope this extra info helps.

I could be wrong on this but it sounds like the marker lights could be supplied from either the high beam or low beam circuit depending on which one of the four terminals they are connected to. Try turning on the lights and pressing the headlight dimmer switch and see what happens.

ok will try that......If I remember correctly there are 2 terminals that go to the headlights, 1 to horn, 1 to parking lights. So I had to trace the wires and make sure I connected it to the " hot" headlight terminal. I am talking about the connections , or junction strip, that is located next to and on either side of the radiator. Thanks all for the help.

I would connect the fender markers to the parking light circuit.

Thanks everybody..boy I feel silly.....for some reason, I had the high beams on..wasn't paying attention to the red high beam indicator light...soon as I hit the high beam pedal "off", the fender marker lights came on as normal !! It's just how I wired them in. Thanks again....wow..sometimes fixes are simple !!

Glad you uncovered the problem. Now it would seem best if they were wired as suggested above on their own circuit. The first click on the switch should turn on the park lamps. The second should power the headlamps AND the park lamps.
