Has any one ever removed the steering box from a 47 up steering box from a half ton truck? it doesn't look like there are any riprags or universals, if i take the steering box off what does the end of the shaft look like, is it male or female, does the shaft have a collar on it or does the shaft actually go into the box? any help would be appreciated thanks...

The shaft is all one piece from the steering wheel and includes the worm gear. To remove it you have to disassemble the steering box and slide it out of the column. A shop manual will show you how.
