May 17th was a beautiful Canadian long weekend date to hold our region's Spring Dust-off Tour. Paul and Maggie Rozon (1931Roadster here on Chat) hosted and planned a beautiful tour through the Niagara Region. We did things a little differently this year, as we held a joint tour with the HASC (Historical Automobile Society of Canada) region that the Rozon's also belong to. Thirteen old cars met at the Mud Street Tim Horton's at the top of the mountain in Hamilton.

The VCCA group consisted of Paul & Maggie's 1953 sedan, George and Carole Worron, 1979 Impala Coupe, Don & Judy Lampkin, 1974 Caprice convertible, Les & Bev Gajdacs, 1961 Pontiac sedan (Were they calling for rain, Les??!!) and Bruce & Jane Pearce, 1950 convertible. We were expecting a few more VCCA members, but unfortunately it looks like 2015 may be another year of health issues. The HASC group showed up with a couple Chevrolet's though. I'm horrible with names, but great with cars! There was a gorgeous 1961 Impala convertible, a beautiful 1967 Chevelle. Other cars were a 1934 Dodge sedan, 1937 Pontiac convertible, 1967 Plymouth, 1978 Mercury Monarch, and a 1967 Mercury.

The tour was over beautiful blossom tree lined back roads through Niagara's Wine & Fruit Region. Stops were at a Tim Hortons for coffee, and at the floral clock at Queenston. Parking was a little short, and it took a couple trips around the block for all of us to find some! Jane & I put the top down to enjoy the afternoon sun. After the lunch stop at Silk's Family Restaurant, we toured back along the shore of Lake Ontario. We detoured through a cottage area that had some brilliantly painted and decorated cottages.

It was more lake front views, and then back to the Swiss Chalet for supper. Jane & I left the truck & trailer at the Rozon's house, so continued back to Burlington with them. We had a 15 minute wait at the Eastgate Lift Bridge to wait for a Coast Guard cutter to go under the bridge.

When we arrived at the Rozon's, Paul was excited to show us his roadster. I think he had regret that he didn't use it for the tour! Jane & I went for a spin north of Burlington with Paul. We went through the escarpment area, and it was fun watching Paul double clutch it as he worked it out through the hills and winding roads. The view from the rumble seat was awesome!

What a beautiful car! I'm excited, as I have the same body & paint man working on my 1951 sedan that did the beautiful job on Paul's roadster.

Thanks again to Paul & Maggie for planning a great tour!
