Is there point deduction for having headlights with the 3 aiming buttons on a car manufactured(1947) prior to their use. I do have a pair of original lights w/o the buttons but since I do drive the car a lot and will be driving the car approx 250 miles to a VCCA National Meet I don't want to take a chance of a stone or ? breaking one. I suppose I could make the exchange at the meet location but if there is no deduction, why bother.

If the plain set of sealed beams is of the all glass type they would also get points deducted (if the judge knew the difference).
The proper sealed beam for your car is the metal back type the a glass bulb inside and the Guide name on the front.

Did not realize the all glass type came on later than 47. I will look at mine again but pretty sure they are the all glass type. Oh well, at least I will have the correct jack for my car. Thanks for answering my question. Dick

GM cars used Guide (Division of GM) sealed beams. From 1940 through the first half of 1955 they were of the metal back type (which are being reproduced). Yes, metal backs were 6 and 12 volt. The later all glass type with the aiming lugs were new for 1956. Most other makes used all glass sealed beams from 1940 and up with the exception of Chrysler products.(and GM)

I just checked my buttonless seal beam lights that were in a box up on a shelf. I was NOT as lucky on the lights as I was on the jack. They have the glass backs and are GE.https://vccachat.org/images/icons/default/frown.gif I guess I will put them in for the show anyway since they do not have the 3 aiming buttons.

OK I will see if it works. Clicking on one and it does not show up in the post at my end. Hopefully it will when I submit. We shall see. What are the posting icon shown above the posting area used for ? I was clicking and dragging those.
Thanks

Gene; Who is selling the reproduction metal back type sealed beams ? I looked in Filling Station and did not see them there.
