Incorrect. That "extra hook" is NOT part of the jack. It is a Maple tree spinner seed.
The bumper hook is almost flat.

Man this verifies one thing, many of the VCCA judges know nothing about correct jacks....At least now I have a 46-48 Chevy jack in the trunk

Chef,
You may be correct abot the '41 jack. After reviewing other pictures I have it looks as if it did have a hook.
Russ, what does the base look like?

Think I should have titled the heading of this thread, "Jacks, a real can of worms". Maybe, "Jacks, welcome to the twilight zone".

If it is a 1941-42 jack I know of a person looking for one.

Once all the issues that have been cussed and discussed in this Forum have been settled, it would be nice if someone would encapsulate the 36 pages of the discussions, photos, and what have you in this thread, into a neat little package of descriptions and photos of the years of the jacks in question in this Forum. An enterprising indivicual could even publish a pamphlet containing this information and I imagine it would be a best seller! Beamer

Very different! If you blow up one of the pics, you will notice the jack will most likely fit the bumper bracket with the skinny bumper fitting nicely in the "U" in the bracket

Gene (left) sent me a better view of his '41. Gene, I edited out that Maple leaf spinner seed. rolllaugh When viewed side-by-side it is clear they are different. The up-right is near the top on Gene's. More midway on Bruce's. However they both have the up-right arm that I believe comes up behind the bumper and lift on the support.

It seems the '41 folks don't want to partake as I ask them for pictures but no replies so far. Guess Charlie is still stewing over the nasty remark I made about the '41 bumpers. Forgive me Charlie? imsorry

So, once again, if Gene's is a '41 chevy, what is the other?

Go here Third post by Mike. Also a little further down by Chipper.

This jack stuff has been going on for years but few solid answers.

Also got a little jack thing up in the '37-'42.

Hey, you need one more post, 3000 wave
