My 48 Aero has a clip behind the back edge of each front fender. It is a few inches up from the bottom and has a rubberized coating on the end. Right now it lays flat against the back of the fender. I assume it has something to do with the door cap. What is the purpose of this clip and should it lay flat or stick out some?

Thanks

I've been told that it was to prevent squeeks. Mine has them on both fenders. When I bought the car back in the '70s an old timer remarked about those and said "now that's an original car"....I looked it up in the '48 parts book and in Gp. 8.133 #3664597 and I think that's the answer to your question...
