I received a call today from Larry near Windsor Ontario. He's restoring a 1964 Impala convertible, and was looking for some help identifying where his car was built, and if the engine is correct. It is a Canadian built car.

His tags read… Body, 41467045234
Engine, 854625775. It is a 327 V8 / Powerglide.

Any help would be appreciated.

This should help...

http://impalas.org/numbers/#canadian

As for the engine goes, this is all I can decode:

8 = ?
5 = 1965, 1975
4 = ?
625775 = last 6 digits of the original vehicle's VIN.

I can't find much information on the Canadian numbers and how to decode them. So perhaps the first thing we should ask for the casting number on the engine block. Next thing I'd ask for is any other info/numbers that could be stamped on the machined pad in front of the passenger-side head.

That's the best I can do.. :) (so far.)
