I'm trying to reinstall my 64 Chevy gas tank….bought new Wittek hose clamps (like original) for the short hose from the tank to the filler tube….how the heck do you adjust a Wittek clamp???? It doesn't adjust like "today's" hose clamps that open as you turn the screw…the Wittek has one vertical screw but looks like it just locks the clamp…I need to make it slightly larger so I can get the hose over the pipe…frustrated!!! Anyone help here?? thx...Billu38

Thanks but forget my question…..I see how they're supposed to work but it looks like the "as-delivered' size is slightly smaller than I need and any adjustment will only make it smaller…can't go any bigger….delivered part wasn't what I ordered…Oh well…thx..Billu38

Back-out the screw and pull (spread) the clamp apart by hand by applying pressure 90 Deg. from each side of the clamp screw.

Did the 64 Chevy use Wittek hose clamps on the radiator hoses too? thx..Billu38

Just in case anyone is interested in Wittek clamps….I found an excellent supplier on a website….just received the clamps for my 64 Chevy gas tank to filler hose…easy to order by web, fast delivery, accurate parts and ship tracking…I was impressed with the service…actually a tractor parts supplier but large selection of clamps among other stuff….DJS Tractor Parts, LLC in Stockbridge Michigan…Billu38

And they worked great!! Just like they're supposed to…reinstalled the tank yesterday and clamps tightened perfectly…..very good quality parts for anyone interested….Billu38
