1936 5 window coupe. How do I align the hood and the radiator to fit properly. I took the hood off, tried to straighten the grill, but when I go toreassemble it looks as though the car shrunk(LOL) the hood bonnet ids about 1 inch to long and it seems if I move the grill surround the seams will no look correct, with way too much space
Thanks--

Scorpion,

I would suggest that you join the 1936 Chevy Owners forum. The site is headed by a guy named Dave and he is really knowledgable on stuff like this.

The site has extensive archives. Included is an article on converting a '36 Chevy from 4.11 to 3.55 gears, something that many think cannot be done. The article describes how to do it with OEM Chevy parts, no pricey special gears.

Loosen the bolts that hold the rad shell and everything attached to it. Then using the rad support rod that runs from radshell to firewall, loosen those. Take the hood and lay it in place and adjust the opening front to rear of the hood sheetmetal gap using the rad support rods.

its time consuming to do it, but can save dollars from having to pay somebody.. Also if worried about chipping scratching the paint.

Take windshield washer rubber hose and split it with razor blade knife, place over the edges of the hood all 4 areas per side.
