Here's one that was local here. It moved to the Windsor area.

You know the Fleetline series didn't end with the 1948 model. There's a whole group of '49, '50 '51 and '52 Fleetlines that are every bit as stylish as the '41 through '48 ones you're discussing. (I know you knew that)

Then Charlie should post a picture of the father of Fleetlines, the 1941.

'48 was the last year for the fender stripes. For '49, it was the last year of the separate trunk ornament and handle. 1950 built the ornament into the handle.

Oldie just sent me pictures of his new project to share on this thread…

Attached are photos of a '49 that followed me home two weeks ago today. All signs suggest the vehicle is a totally original 22K mile vehicle right down to the cracked and peeling lacquer paint. The front floor mat appears to be original as does the upholstery. Most of the door seals have reverted to their natural rubber state and are a gooey sticky mess. I have no immediate plans to restore or alter the vehicle's original state. I am attempting to clean it up. There must have been a smoker in its past as the headliner was/is really black. I spent this week working on the headliner, first using Wool Lite but that didn't totally correct the blackened condition. I changed to carpet spot cleaner which is cleaning the headliner but making is lighter in color than what I remember them being originally.

Thanks Bruce for posting the photos. I'm taking the vehicle to the Sloan Museum Golden Memories show tomorrow. All vehicles must be 50 year old or older and appear stock. It's my favorite yearly event. If the weather is good it should be a fun day. The Lower Michigan Region makes it one of their annual events.

Thanks guys for your kind words and suggestions. Yesterday I drove the '49 on an 80 mile round trip. It ran well without any difficulties. Got caught in a hard rain storm which exposed some water leakage problems that need to be addressed.

Is your 1949 an early or late. The early has the inside hood release. Late is like a 1950 and the release is reached through the grille.
The front door weather strip at the hinge post
was completely revised on the late and much improved.
Your 1949 is the same color as my 1950 - Grecian Gray.

Gene,

Based upon your description, it is a late '49. The hood release is through the grill. The paint number on the Fisher tag is 388, Grecian Grey. There is only one outside vent control on the bottom of the dash. The Service News for '49 shows two vent controls. My single control operates the left side inlet. It appears the right side air inlet is controlled through the heater air control. The Serial number is 9GKHxxxxx, 9 = Norwood assembly plant, GK = 2100 series passenger car, H = August build.

I was searching for 1950 Fleetline when a friend told me about the '49. I couldn't pass on it for price and condition after looking at many higher priced vehicles with questionable underbody conditions.

Gene,

I my opinion the fleetline was from 42-46. Let me clarify: The fleetline and aerodedan combination. And, those with skirts and no stinkin Fulton. All other fleet lines are pretty much just Chevrolets no matter if 41 through 52. They just don't cut it.

Why anyone in their right mind (key word "right") would want to stick a picture of any fleet line earlier than 42 or later than 48 boggles the mind.

And, another comment about Fultons and skirts. If one were to want to screw up a otherwise beautiful car, the additions of the Fulton or lack of skirts on a 42-48 does it right nicely. Any car earlier than 49/50 with a Fulton or without proper skirts should be hidden from view or shipped to canada

Just my opinion. I'm sure you agree with me.

I was in Charlotte for the swap meet this Thursday through Sunday. It was a great time only pleasingly abetted by good weather and no fleet line in sight.

(Note: My computer keeps spreading the words fleet line.)

Charlie computer

The best of the best I've seen of this pleathrea of fleet lines is a two-tone, aerosedan without a Fulton, and with proper skirts. They look really nice. (To write that right there hurt something awful. Did too!)

Charlie… When we go to send you a message, it says you are over your quota for messages. Click "MyStuff", then "Messages". When all of the previous messages you've been sent pop up, they have a check box on the right side of them. Scroll to the bottom of that page, then select the last page of your messages. That will be the oldest messages. Start checking the boxes of ones you no longer want to keep. At the bottom of the page is a "Delete Checked" button. Press it, and your messages are cleared. Once you're done that, I'm really going to fill your box with harassing stuff… like Fulton pictures!

Brewster,

After the warning of eye-crossing futons, I know I'll probably regret this but I have deleted all my posts in my stuff.

Lay it on me.
