Hi all firstly I'm new on here and in England Uk I own a 58 Biscayne sedan delivery, although the car was built as a v8 it now runs a 327 mill with the original cast powerglide. My question is the gear linkage has no kick down facility fitted ( I'm guessing the guy who fitted the 327 removed it) the car drives well but I wondered what would be involved in fitting the kick down linkage ( the car runs an edelbrock 4 barrel) and where could I obtain a linkage and would any powerglide kick down linkage work / fit
Many thanks
Charlie

Hello Charlie, thanks for stopping by the VCCA Chat forums. Your '58 sounds like a fun car and I'm sure it turns heads over there. I'm not an expert, but would something like this work?

Powerglide carb to trans kickdown linkage

Anyone else have advice for Charlie?

Cheers,

Hi daryl many thanks for that I have now discovered I have the later 1968 on aluminium powerglide but the box is missing the kickdown lever as well as the linkage so if anyone has any ideas (please bear in mind I'm in the uk so I can't find these parts in dismantles / junkyards)
Many thanks

Sure thing. You may need 4 or 5 parts in total, plus the clips to attach the linkage rods.

Part 1: Bellcrank assembly

Part 2: Carb to bellcrank rod

Part 3: Bellcrank to transmission linkage

Part 4: Linkage retainer clips

Part 5: Kickdown Arm for Trans

Without seeing the setup or knowing much about the Edelbrock Performer carbs, I can't say for certain that this is 100% correct for your '58 Chevy's application. The kickdown lever may or may not be needed. If anyone has better advice, please chime in. I haven't had a powerglide & small block for about 15 years, so I'm just going by memory. Let me know what you discover, and best of luck to you!
