Is there a book on identifying 261 cubic inch six cylinder chevy engines? Any info on GMC six cylinder identification during the 50's ?

The block casting number would be the best ID for a 261.

Where do you find casting numbers for the 261? Block, heads, manifolds and water pump? Is there a listing for these?

The block number is usually behind the starter. The the head number is under the valve cover.
