On July 20th, the Long Island Region hosted the 2014 Atlantic Northeast meet and it was a huge success. The meet was held at the amazing Cradle of Aviation Museum and every registered car received one free pass to view the museum. July 20 was a significant date in history as the Lunar module set down on the surface of the moon on July 20, 1969. This bit of history was reflected in the artwork for our participation awards and award plaques.

We had a great response to the event with 36 cars pre-registered and only 3 failing to make the event. Thanks to a show committee that thought of every last detail, the show ran without a hitch. The weather was a little iffy in the early morning but clouds gave way to sun and it turned out to be a beautiful day.

The quality of cars was exceptional and many entrants walked away with their desired awards. The Long Island Region has a number of members who have judged on the national level and we pride ourselves in fair, accurate judging of each car.

I would like to thank all those who helped at the meet and all those who brought their cars. We hope to be doing another such event in the next year or two to continue the standard of excellence established at a Long Island Region show. We hope to have an upcoming article in the G+D about the meet.

Chris Geiger
Director, L.I. Region

We should have an article coming out in an upcoming G+D. If I can figure how to post pictures, I will put some on.

As Chris indicated, we'll be publishing an article in an upcoming G&D which will include pictures of the event.

As a region we have long history of hosting meets. The meet was big step forward in reasserting the relevancy of the V.C.C.A. on Long Island and in the Northeast. We were able to reconnect with old friends and we only hope to continue our tradition in future years.

Queens County hosted the 2012 and 2013, the Long Island Region hosted 2014 and we only hope that we can pass the torch to Connecticut and the Southern New England Region for 2015.

I would like to thank the members from Connecticut and the Southern New England region for make the arduous trek south to attend our event at the Cradle of Aviation. We would love to return the favor if you guys decide to host a regional meet of your own.

Again, thanks for attending and helping to make our show the rousing success that it was.

I want to thank all of the members of the Long Island Region for all the hard work that they did to make the meet a success.
It was a beautiful day and my entire family enjoyed the museum which housed an actual Lunar Lander which my father-in-law worked on at Grumann.
