Hi gang, I need someone to decode this serial number and label the parts for any serial number. Talking 1964 41867L166773 The 1867 denotes a Convertible........Don't know the rest. I would like to know where the serial number is located on a 1964.

4 = year
08 = Corvette
67 = convertible
S = StLouis
last six numbers assembly sequence
serial number plate welded to the right side hinge pillar cross brace under the glove box.
I know the numbers don't agree with yours so don't shoot the messenger.

So in my example (taken off a 64 Convertible) it should be 4 = 1964, 1867 = Convertible, L = (?), and X # left over for the sequence #?

L is Los Angles. S would be St.Louis. Unsure what the 08 means but it can't be Corvette because they were never made in Los Angles.

I'm not sure where the "08" reference came from in this thread, but that VIN is from a 1964 Impala convertible (non-SS) built at Los Angeles. It was the 66,773rd full size 1964 Chevy built there. The parts of it are: 4 = 1964 18 = Impala V8 67 = convertible L = Los Angeles 166773 = the sequential vehicle number beginning with 100001 The VIN plate is in the driver's door jam. Verne

For some strange reason I thought you said it was a Corvette and the numbers I looked up pertain to a Vette.
