That would look good in my garage next to a real NOMAD.

It mentions it originally was a 2 Bbl. 348. There was no such thing. Either a 4 Bbl or 3 two Bbls.m Probably was a Turboglide and now a much more desireable Turbohydramatic.

Very nice '31, likely a 5W Sport Coupe (rumble seat) as it has the factory cowl lights and stoneguard. It also has the accessory Viking twist-on cap. Photos like these give a good impression of the general sheen of the paint, not real glossy as seen on hood sides for example. Hard to emulate that look today.

Looks like a staged photo with new or almost new car prepped for the shot. You can get a good idea of the amount of gloss but looking at the reflection of the model and building molding in the passenger door. It is not a modern high gloss as has been pointed out numerous times. Over restoration on paint is a common situation.

A couple of family pictures sent to me from Gene. I'll let him post a reply describing his family's 1931...

I am the little squirt in the pictures. The only pictures I can find of our 1931. Picture taken in 1938. Car was replaced with a 1934 in 1941. It (the 1931) replaced a 1927 coach - which I have no pictures of.
The '31 was a standard model but had an accessory grille screen. Was the common black and dark blue. For some reason it had 1933 hub caps but was a nice original car. Was sold to my uncle who drove it all over the US.
My fathers first car was a 1923 Essex roadster. That was replaced with a Model T as you could buy them for $10 used and a Chevroletcost $25 during the depression.

Love the mudflaps, something you never see on a restored car! I wonder how common they were?

The mud flaps were on the car when my father bought it. They were fairly common on a "decked out" car back then.
The 1939 I had in 1949 had mud flaps also when I bought it. I don't have any pictures of that car. Had it for less than a year. A Master Deluxe 4 passenger coupe.

The 1934 Master Town sedan was our war years car. Was around from 1941-1946. Father ordered a new 1946 which never came so bought the low mileage 1942 in Sept. 1946. Car was sold to an uncle in the fall of 1949 when my father became a car salesman. Sold of all things Fords for a few months and when an opening came around he went to the local Chevrolet dealer.
First picture was when we first got the '42.....note some accessories sprouted out a year later.
I had just entered my teens when that first picture was taken.

My 1941 club coupe. Aug 1950-Sept 1951. A 75,000 mile car. Had engine overhauled in our shop. Was a "virgin". Replaced the pinion bearing. Drove ot out west. Put on over 5000 miles in 9 days. Good car.
Pictres taken next to the Milwaukee Mile race track.

1949 Fleetline Special. Sept. 1951-April 1952. Came in as a used car. Had only a heater. Added some goodies. Also had minor front end damage. I got it for a good price and it had only 18,000 miles. I wanted a car with the new post war look. Was a late 1949 and probably the worst car I ever had.

Ah, my 1950 Bel Air Power Glide. After the cheapie 1949 I had all that a 1950 Chevrolet could be. Purchased the car in April 1952 from our office manager. She thought a long war was coming and wanted a brand new car. The '50 had 16,000 miles on it and some accessories. I did find a local dealer that had a set of wing tip guards which I always liked.
The best part of the '50 is that you could drive it at 70 and 75 MPH with out hearing the engine reving. Also was the first Chevrolet that I had that would do over 90 MPH on the level which it did quite often. The speed limit in Wisconsin at that time was 65 MPH and a lot of the traffic moved along at much over that.
The picture with the (Atlantic) ocean in the background was taken at Daytona Beach (Jan 1953).
Was agood car and loved it - until the 1953's came along and you get a 235 engine with a standard transmission.
Sold the 1950 in July of 1953 with 37,000 miles on it.

The view from a '53 Chevy. I liked this photo because of "Pearce's" store on the right. Does anyone know the location?

For some reason, that photo just really speaks to me. I would like to pop into Lew-Ellen's Drive-in Restaurant back there on John Street, and have one of those cocktails and a steak, and look out the back window at the mountains while I dined. All 4 of those Good Old Boys are kind of eyeing the cameraman - you can almost hear 'em saying - "You ain't from around here, are you?"

A total of 4 vehicles are in view, and every one of them is a truck - and they're all late model.

I tried blowing it up, but can't quite make out the state or province on the license plate on the Chevy.
