We were in Colorado in September on vacation and had a chance to stop by the Hotel Elegante in Colorado Springs. We registered for a room at the Hotel for next year's Middle West Meet. During the front end of our vacation we were in Estes Park/Rocky Mtn National Park during the flood. We were high enough in a campground but couldn't get out of town for four days. Finally had to pull our 5th wheel over Trail Ridge Road to get out. Then on to the Springs where my brother lives. While there we drove our truck up Pikes Peak to check out the now all paved road. Really nice. It's really no challenge anymore driving a modern vehicle up - no overheating on the way up and our Duramax/Allison held us back coming down. Only had to tap the brakes three or four times. Not like when we drove the '46 up in 1976 at the Anniversary Meet. Anxious to drive our '46 Woodie up next June. Alan
