On Sunday September 1st the Southern Ontario Canada Region toured to Wainfleet Ont. and attended the Marshville Heritage Festival. Marshville is a restored pioneer settlement of relocated buildings that were at one time spread throughout the county. The festival runs through the labour day weekend and consists of three different car shows, while the pioneer village runs the whole weekend. On Saturday they held the pre-1950 car show, Sunday was 1950-1975, and Monday is British cars and motorcycles. It was a really great scene for a car show, as there was lots to do for the whole family.

We met at 9:00am at Tim Horton's in Binbrook. Our hosts were George & Carol Worren (1979 Impala coupe). Also along were Paul & Maggie Rozon (1953 Bel Air sedan) Don & Judy Lampkin (1964 Impala Convertible) Les & Bev Gajdacs, (1962 Pontiac??!!) Randy & Brenda Pettitt, (1958 Apache) and Bruce & Jane Pearce (1951 Deluxe Sedan). We started the day by ribbing George about bringing the "new car" and Les about bringing a Pontiac... good to get that over early! George and Carol led us on a 45 minute tour through the backroads of the Niagara Peninsula. It was a nice drive on good roads with little traffic. Every other yard seemed to be a really nice looking estate... followed by a lot full of junk! Jane pointed out all of the beautiful porches and rock gardens... and I pointed out all of the abandoned cars and junk! She seemed less excited about them than I was!

We arrived in Marshville for the festival around 10:15, and found a nice show field surrounded by the old buildings, craft merchants, food vendors, and pioneer displays. There were demonstrations of a saw mill, farming techniques (threshing, corn cobbing, flour grinding, etc) I thought the laundry demonstration was pretty cool... a 1923 Maytag washing machine and wringer, powered by a hit & miss one cylinder gas motor! I also tried my hand at some hand powered wash tubs and wringers. My laundry is best left to Jane!

The food options were incredible. Pulled pork sandwiches, apple fritters (hand made in front of you) perogies, and lots of other burgers and fries etc. Around 1:00 we headed over to the R.V. of Ed & Linda Ansell (who were camping with their R.V. club) for a short meeting. A few things were discussed, and Randy presented Paul Rozon an award for our region's publication, The Clutch Chatter. Great work, Paul! A SECRET PROJECT was also discussed, and will be announced officially at a later date!! Stay tuned!

Next it was back to the show field, where we found some shade, and sat around chatting. Dinner plans were made at the Swiss Chalet in Hamilton, and it was off for another drive!

Special thanks to George & Carol for organizing another fantastic tour!
