When and where is the upcoming 2013 Central Meet? The last post I find from this is last April. Port Huron, Michigan, I think. But when? What hotel? Need to plan, want to go.

Is there a web site with details?

Thanks for your help.

I don't know any more. I thought I would keep the subject in the first 24 hours in hope that someone that has more information will respond.

Central Meet 2013
The plans for the Central Meet were almost finalized and then Hilton decided to renovate the host hotel in Port Huron. They are about 6 weeks behind schedule, but they are scheduled to open long before the Central Meet in July. This is what is holding up the registration forms and the announcement of the hotel. Plans are to have the complete information ready for the APRIL G&D. I can verify that the Lower Michigan people are working really hard on resolving any qliches.

ps. I believe that last year almost the same thing happened at the Central Meet in Sandwich, Illinois. I think that the hotel was going through a possible sale and shut-down or something like that.

Thanks for the update Mr. Toolman. Dealing with Hotels/Motels is always a problem. I remember working on the Anniversary Meet in Nashville. We talked with the powers in charge then they all changed jobs.

Can you register and show up for only one day? I'd love to enjoy the whole thing but this darn work thing gets in the way!

I hope to have the '36 mechanics sorted way before then... even though it will still look like a junkyard fugative on the outside! chevy

Is there a class for crusty, half the interior missing, flaking paint '36's?

All kidding aside i'm not into the judging stuff... just the driving and meeting other folks stuff

The Registration form for the 50th Central Meet can be downloaded from Lower Michigian Region's website which is www.Lmrchevy.com The dates are July 24th - 27th, 2013 in Port Huron, Michigan. You can also order a registration form by writing to VCCA Central Meet, PO Box 182, Imlay City, MI 48444. Send a SASE please. The host hotel is the Doubletree Port Huron 1-810-984-8000. Reservations can be made AFTER April 1 at $94/night. There are 3 hotels within 3 miles that are a little cheaper if you want to go that route.

This 50th Central Meet will include VCCA Judging, swap meet, driving tours in the USA, Ladies Luncheon, Awards Banquet and much more. Don't miss this one. The Lower Michigan Region always puts on a great meet.

Just a little heads up. I could not get a reservation at the Doubletree Port Huton so I called the 810 mumber for the Hampton Inn listed in the information for the 50th Central Meet. They took my reservation and charged it to my credit card the day I made our reservation. It did not creat a problem for us but I just thought you might want to know and be prepaired. See you at the Central Meet.

Update on the 50th Central Meet: As many of you are aware, making reservations for the upcoming 50th Central meet at the Port Huron DoubleTree has been difficult because the Hotel is under new ownership and a full restoration of the facility is under way.

The Host Region has been repeatedly assurred by the hotel management that the facility will be ready for this event and we have no reason to believe otherwise.

Today, the Meet Chairman paid an unannounced visit to the Port Huron Double Tree where he ran into the Double Tree Corporate Manager, The Port Huron Double Tree manager, and new facility owner. All three assurred our Chairman that they would be ready for our event. The second and third floors are completed and the main floor is well under way to completion of this 11 million dollar renovation.

The following two paragraphs were copied from the June Lower Michigan Region Newsletter and we're requesting that you help us out by registering at the Host Hotel for the reasons given.

ANNOUNCEMENT:
50th CENTRAL MEET, - JULY 24TH thru 27TH , 2013 … PORT HURON, MICHIGAN.

The June 24, 2013 Meet Registration Deadline is fast approaching. If you have not registered, but intend on doing so, now is the time. Once again the Port Huron Doubletree Hotel management has assured our Meet Chairperson that their facility will be ready for us. The second and third floor renovations are completed and the main floor is currently underway. As a group we need to support the Doubletree by registering at their facility. They made a commitment to us to provide many amenities which are needed to conduct this gathering and your Meer Chair people committed to them that we would support their facility, so please make every effort to do so.

Many of you may have attempted to make reservations at the Port Huron Doubletree Hotel on April 1st as previously announced, in preparation for the 50TH Central Meet, only to find that the Doubletree was unable to accept your reservation at that time. The Doubletree has assured us that they will be ready for us in July and have made arrangements to accept your reservation through their Corporate Office until such time as their Port Huron facility is prepared to accept reservations. Please follow the following procedure:

Call the Doubletree Corporate Offices at 616-647-3505. You can either wait until prompted or enter Extension number 170 on your phone key pad as soon as the initial recording starts. Ask to speak with Amanda Gibbs. Tell her you are making reservations for the July VCCA event being held at the Port Huron, MI Doubletree. Mention the Group rate of $94.

The 50th Central Meet is fast approaching. The host hotel has been under a million dollar renovation for months now. Even though they are not going to be open for this 50 year event, Mike and Mary have found fantastic alternate arrangements for all of us. There are plenty of hotel rooms available for everyone. Sign up, make reservations, get the Chevy ready and head to Port Huron, Michigan in less than a month. The bump in the road that the original host hotel has given us will do nothing to put a damper on a meet that has been planed to provide maximum fun.
How many times in your life will you be able to say that you attended the 50th anniversary of any event, let alone a great VCCA tradition here in the Midwest.
See you there. Kudos to Mike and Mary for their monumental efforts in developing this meet.
