Did 1951 Bel Air have a 2 or 3 position switch ? Just received a new one from the F Station and it has 3 . The last position to the right has no continuity with any other terminals ! ( Just like off pos or to the left ) The FS is working on my question ! Thanks.

The switch has three positions. The centre position is ON. To the left is OFF and Locked, and to the right is just OFF. If you take the key out of the switch in the locked position, you need to put it back in to move the switch to on. If you turn the car off by putting the switch right to the OFF position, you can remove the key, but still move the switch to ON and start the car. It's one of the features left from the old days when people trusted each other with not stealing their cars! bigl

Those accustomed to the finest...find it in Chevrolet.
